Best Time to Sell Us Your Books.
At the end of each semester, we buy books needed by the bookstore for the upcoming semester. The sooner you sell your books after each semester, the better your chance of receiving upto 50% of new retail - because it is at this time of the year that our inventory is most depleted and the time we are receiving orders for the next semester. By the time classes of a new semester start, we usually cannot pay as much because we already have stocked the book in adequate quantities.
Each book brought to us during buyback will fall into one of three categories. The amount of money you receive from your book will depend on what category it falls under.
RETAIL--- up to 50% of New Price
These books will be used for the upcoming semester. They are books faculty have requested which we need copies of to sell. We
pay up to 50% of the new price. Prime example: New Retail Price $100.00 Used $75.00 -
FULL BUYBACK $50.00
WHOLESALE--- 5-35% of New Price
Books that fall into this category are books that have NOT been requested by the faculty for the upcoming semester, or are books we are overstocked on. These books are NOT purchased by the WSU Bookstore. The wholesale company will pay the wholesale market value for these books. Wholesale market value ranges from 5-33% of the retail price, depending on national demand for the book.
Books that fall into this category are books that have NOT been requested by the faculty for the upcoming term, or are books we are overstocked on. Unfortunately, these books also do not have a wholesale market value. Books that fall into this category tend to be older titles that have gone out of print, have been replaced by a newer edition, or are not commonly used on campuses across the nation (local titles). Neither the Bookstore nor the Wholesale company need these titles, and therefore cannot pay any money for them.

How do I get my money from online buyback?
Please include the printed buyback quote and your contact information when sending your books. When your textbooks are received, an employee of the Online department checks the books to verify that the title, author, edition, and ISBN numbers match the printed quote. Every component of the textbook must be included (i.e. CD's, DVD's etc.). The conditions of the books are checkded for water damage, extensive highlighting, and/or writing on the pages. Books containing this kind of damage do not qualify for buyback, as well as any addditional books not on the buyback quote. Books that don't qualify are forfeited to the Campus Store, or the student must pay the return shipping. The books that pass verification are then purchasesed. The Campus Store is unable to send cash, so a check requrest is submitted to WSU Accounting Services and they will send a check straight to you within 7-10 business days
Other Important Buyback Information:
Acquiring your own library of textbooks can provide significant benefits as you continue your education. Textbooks often have value after the class is over, especially those in your major or other areas of interest.
We recognize, however, that you will not want to keep every book. In order to get the best price when you sell your books you should:
: Encourage instructors to get their orders for the next semester in early.
: Ask your instructors to let the WSU Bookstore know before finals begin if a text will be reused. If we have a request early enough for the titles to be included in buyback, you'll get a better price for your book.
: Sell early - You'll usually get the best price if you sell unwanted texts to the WSU Bookstore as soon as finals week begins. During finals week we pay top dollar for books, so don't wait until the beginning of the next semester. And remember: even if you originally bought the book "used" you can still sell it back - we pay you the same amount whether you originally purchased it new or used.
: Bring all the extras - be sure to bring any CDs, disks, videotapes or other items that came with the book. If you don't have these items, we may still buy the book, but the price might be affected.
